The Metal Expo 2024 exhibition hosted a meeting of the Business Russia Committee on Metallurgy
01 November 2024

On October 31, the Metal Expo 2024 exhibition hosted a closed meeting of the Business Russia Committee on Metallurgy.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the Novostal-M holding Ivan Demchenko proposed reforming our country's export strategy:

"The development of Russian international business is something we need to pay special attention to. We have everything for this: logistics, banks, and other sectors of the economy should make every effort to ensure that Russian exporters encounter as few barriers as possible.

We are witnessing the wonderful example of Rosatom Corporation, which exports its projects and develops the nuclear industry far beyond Russia. And we can have a huge number of similar examples: Russian companies can implement projects in various areas – from ports and railways to construction.

It is important to immediately lay the foundation for Russian engineering in key foreign projects. A striking example of this is Turkey and the Akkuyu NPP construction project. Despite the fact that Turkey is one of the world's largest rebar exporters, the project used a special type of high-strength rebar, A-600C, which is manufactured only at Severstal plants. In the future, this product will be exported from Russia to other promising NPP construction sites. And in my opinion, there should be many more examples like this."

"It's time to move from exporting products to exporting full-fledged projects," Ivan Demchenko concluded.
