This fall large-scale upgrades were expected at the Balakovo Metallurgical Plant. Two shops were simultaneously down for repairs here – the section rolling shop and the electric steelmaking shop.

The upgrade work took us about a month.

So, at the electric steelmaking shop:

the electric arc furnace was upgraded;
the overhaul of the out-of-furnace steel treatment unit was carried out;
the continuous casting machine was repaired;
all necessary replacements and work were made on the equipment of the bulk material feed path;
the filters on the dust and gas cleaning unit were replaced.

And at the steelmaking shop:

42 heaters of the walking beam furnace were replaced;
the old vault was completely demolished and a new one of several layers of refractory concrete was erected over the already installed furnace.
Both shops are already completely ready for work.
